AEM remains at the top when it comes to performance and dyno results for Intake Systems. They continue to test their products and stay ahead of the game.

AEM opened their doors in 1987 as a performance tuning shop for vintage automobiles and imports. AEM's California location put them right in the middle of the import tuner world making them one of the more popular brands when it came to modifiying imports. Automotive knowledge and creativity mixed with the love of making things go faster fueled AEM's fire for creating cutting edge products that not only looked great under the hood but offered performance gains that were second to none.

AEM put together one of the very first Air Intake System Packages. The combination of first hand experience on and off the track, feedback from racers that have used their intakes, and testing in the shop resulted in an understanding of both the practical and performance perks of air intake systems.

AEM has always been known for their innovation and creativity in the world of intakes. They were one of the first companies to design and produce custom performance intake systems that utilized specific intake tube lengths and diameters that take advantage of pressure waves in the inlet tract. This design created more control over the RPM range that was being affected.

In search for more efficient ways to make power AEM began looking into the advantages of cooler air on combustion efficiency creating the phrase "Cold Air Intake." This was just one of the many ways AEM's love of cars and making them go faster has shaped the world of aftermarket intakes to what it is today.
