How Are Intake Systems Made

How K&N Makes an Intake System

Share |

K&N begins by testing all kinds of stock intakes which will determine what they make.

3 Main Characteristics of an Air Filter that K&N looks to improve:

  • Pressure Drop (Air Flow)
  • Efficiency (What size particles does it stop)
  • Capacity (Building up of dirt)

K&N uses their Dyno Test to measure performance of the entire vehicle - measuring horse power and torque. These tests are done to understand how the intake will effect the vehicle before and after the installation.

3 Main Reasons for a Performance Intake System:

  • More Horse Power
  • Quicker Engine Response
  • More Torque

Just with an air filter, there is generally a 1-2% increase in the power output of the engine!
